The 2014 World Blood Donor Day celebration will be marked under the theme: "Safe blood for saving mothers". MamaYe Ghana and National Blood Service (NBS) will team up to organise three key activities to highlight the importance of safe blood for pregnant women and the need for voluntary blood donation.Click here to watch the 2014 World Blood Donor Day video.The activities planned are:
- Tuesday, June 10, 2014 - Public Lecture on "Safe blood for saving mothers" by Prof. Richard Adanu at the national headquarters of the (NBS) at 4:30pm prompt. The event is expected to be chaired by the Minister for Gender, Women and Children, Nana Oye Lithur.
- Saturday, June 14, 2014 - World Blood Donor Day Commemorative ceremony to honour voluntary blood donors and institutions to be chaired by Minister of Health, Ms Sherry Ayitey.
- Sunday, June 15, 2014 - A brain power quiz on Ghana Television premised on the theme: "Safe blood for saving mothers".
