Leading hip hop artist and peace ambassador with a massive youth following, Kao Denero joins the MamaYe campaign in support of raising awareness around issues of maternal and newborn health in Sierra Leone. For the MamaYe campaign he pens a song called ‘Mama en Pikin’ featuring gospel soul singer Esther Michaels. Kao Denero is no stranger to singing about social issues; he is the founder of ‘Mama Nor Dae Nar Os Pikin Foundation’ which is dedicated to supporting children without parents. Kao Denero joins MamaYe because he “believes in the cause, it’s a beautiful thing to support our mothers and babies”. In his opening performance at the MamaYe launch last week Friday he reiterated his support for MamaYe my reminding the audience that “[he] is MamaYe, you are Mamaye, we are all MamaYe”.
