Winning for maternal and newborn health - the AMHiN award for journalists

The Accountability Mechanism for Maternal and Newborn Health (AMHiN) Media Award is for journalists who entered their published stories in the investigative story competition. 2nd edition is now open.
The Accountability for Maternal and Child Health (AMHiN) has awarded two journalists, Ndidi Chukwu of National Trail and Judd-Leonard Okafor of Daily Trust, both in Abuja.The two journalists submitted enteries that the award's entry consideration panel regarded as the best in the following areas: actionable, clarity, data/research, story telling and relevance to a community.Speaking at the presentation of the awards, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, the conveyner of the competition on behalf of AMHiN, said that the awards are meant to recognise and motivate journalists who are using the media to amplify maternal and newborn health cause in Nigeria.Ndidi and Judd each received cheques of 50 thousand naira and award certificates.Dr. Tunde Segun, MamaYe Nigeria Country Director presents a certificate and a cheque of 50 thousand Naira to NdidiTeresa Effa, Country Rep of Champions for Change (C4C) presents a certificate and a cheque of 50 thousand naira to JuddThe second edition of the AMHiN award is now open to all journalists, bloggers and columnists who are passionate about reporting on maternal and newborn issues in Nigeria. Entries could be in the following categories: call to action, interviews, documentaries, investigative features or opinion articles. The entries must first have been published online or in the newspapers, broadcast on radio or television.Three winners will be picked in this second edition, and winners have the opportunity to win additional items like branded laptop computers and bags, and the opportunity to be receiving evidence materials to enrich their reports for the next six months.Entry closes on September 19, 2014.
