MamaYe Ghana is partnering the National Blood Service (Blood Bank) for series of events to mark the World Blood Donor Day, which falls on Friday, June 14. Ghana’s Blood Bank undertakes blood donation exercises across the country throughout the year coupled with public sensitization programmes to raise awareness on the need for safe blood to meet the annual 250,000 pints national requirement. As part of the World blood Donor Day, the Blood Bank is organising an event to award voluntary blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood under the theme: “Every Blood Donation is a Gift of Life”. The day, which marks the 10th anniversary of World Blood Donor Day, will focus on the value of donated blood to the patient, not only in saving lives, but also in helping people live longer and more productive lives.
