Every Newborn Toolkit

The World Health Organization and UNICEF have coordinated the development of an Every Newborn action plan to end preventable newborn deaths. As part of the development of the Every Newborn action plan, a Toolkit has been developed to provide support to those involved in promoting more action and accountability on newborn and maternal health.
The World Health Organization and UNICEF have coordinated the development of an Every Newborn action plan to end preventable newborn deaths. As part of the development of the Every Newborn action plan, a Toolkit has been developed to provide support to those involved in promoting more action and accountability on newborn and maternal health. The Toolkit includes:
  • Introduction section consists of tools introducing the Every Newborn toolkit and action plan including:
      • a cover letter summarising the toolkit
      • a brief describing the development of the Every Newborn action plan
      • a document providing key Every Newborn advocacy messages
      • a section outlining what the different stakeholders can do to advance action for newborn health
  • Consultation section consists of:
      • tools advising users how to design and implement consultation meetings with key stakeholders in-country
      • summary of key global, regional and country events that will feature and further progress the Every Newborn action plan
  • Tools section consists of:
      • analytical tools for country and regional teams to use to ensure that reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health policies and plans are informed by evidence
      • a tool to assist countries to identify bottlenecks, challenges and solutions to scaling up newborn health care
