Improving quality of care in Ethiopian district hospitals through maternal death surveillance and response
In this case study, we recount how improvements in quality of care came about one year after the inauguration of maternal death surveillance and response (MDSR) committees at three district hospitals. The Ethiopia country team has supported the introduction of the National MDSR system to one selected zone in each of the Oromia and Amhara Regions, where the three hospitals are located.
These hospitals were assisted in forming MDSR committees between May and October 2013.This case study is part of our book, MamaYe Evidence for Action Stories of Change: Selected Case Studies. Through illustrative case studies, we describe how Evidence for Action - MamaYe has strategically combined evidence with advocacy and accountability activities in six countries, across Africa, and globally.
