E4A-MamaYe builds local partnerships to hold governments to account to prioritise and invest in women’s and children’s health. We bring together governments, civil society, health practitioners and media to work together in coalitions in Nigeria, Kenya and Senegal. These coalitions use information to identify problems that threaten lives of mothers and their babies and advocate for use of existing resources to address those problems.

BaSAM Coalition
Bauchi, Nigeria
The Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism (BaSAM) for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (MNCH) was established in 2014 with the objective of establishing an accountability mechanism for the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health to ensure that more mothers and babies survive pregnancy and childbirth.
KADMAM
Kaduna, Nigeria
Kaduna State Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM) was established in year 2015. KADMAM is a co-creation mechanism that has over membership drawn from government, civil society organisations and the media. The goal of KADMAM is to contribute to the improvement of maternal and child health care services in Kaduna State by the year 2027.
LASAM Coalition
Lagos, Nigeria
The Lagos Accountability Mechanism for Maternal Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (LASAM4CMNAH) Coalition was established in February 2016 with support of E4A-MamaYe. Its key objective is to act as an accountability mechanism that monitors, reviews and takes action to ensure the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health.
MNH Coalition
Nairobi, Kenya
The Maternal & Newborn Health (MNH) Coalition of Kenya is a network of grassroots civil society organisations and local media in Nairobi. The coalition was formally formed in early 2021 and its focus is to improve maternal and neonatal health. Before 2021, members of the coalition operated as an informal network across Nairobi City County. 
NiSAM Coalition
Niger, Nigeria
The Niger State led Accountability Mechanism (NiSAM) was established in 2019 by the Niger State government and other non-government actors in line with the Niger State Strategic Health plan. NiSAM’s goal is to achieve a reduction in maternal, newborn and child mortality through efficient funding and timely release of funds for the provision of quality MNCH services by 2022.
RMNCAH Network
Bungoma, Kenya
The Bungoma Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) Network is a coalition of civil society and media organisations working in Bungoma County, Kenya. This coalition was established in November 2020 formalising a working relationship among local civil society and media who had engaged together since 2017.
YOVAM
Yobe, Nigeria
Yobe Voice & Accountability Mechanism (YOVAM) was established in the year 2016 as a state led accountability mechanism bringing together civil society and government. Its focus is amplifying citizens voice in health governance and advocating for transparency, accountability and effective delivery of RMNCAH+N services in the state.
